He rushed to commit to something. Then he realized how shit it is being in that situation and got cold feet. How convenient he "hurt" his knee and was able to simply quit playing war on his first day in.
Listen, I don't necessarily think he should have been there in the first place but that's none of my business. However, if someone is going to commit to something then they should be expected to hold true to their word.
I'd like to be hopefull that he learned something valuable out of this but I think he's getting exactly what he wanted out of the deal.
Yeah they did an article about him before he left and he talked about (leaving his wife and kids behind) he had to defend freedom and blah blah. Then all of a sudden he did all he could in a week lol
