What the fuck is this shit? I found this horseshit on reddit, and they're almost crying for this man. "UH! I UNDERSTAND IT! MY ANXIETY ISSUES! DON'T TRIGGER ME! PANIC ATTACKS ARE WORSE THAN AIDS!"

Jesus Christ, is everything these days considered a mental illness? These retards don't even see that pharma companies, and quacks are just trying to make money off normal shit. Yeah, feeling anxious is not a fucking disease. People get that all the time.

I despise at work birthday events. They can go fuck right off with Quality Faires, Happy Hours, After-Work Social Events, and all that other "morale building" shit. I'm not there to celebrate, I'm there to collect my paycheck and get the fuck away from the unwashed heathens.

[–] 2 pts

Same mentality as me. I'm not interested in spending even more time outside of work with people who do not give a fuck about me or who I am as a person. Same goes for after-work meetings - if you can't put the meeting in work hours, I'm not interested. I don't care if you pay me - my after work time is spent with my husband, my family, and my friends - and doing the hobbies I enjoy. It's not spent bickering about topics which I already know about, or which could be told to me either in an email or in person during work hours.

When I retired someone asked me "don't you miss working?" FUKNO

[–] 0 pt

Yeah, after a (presumably) long and reasonably happy life, the last thing i want to be thinking is "Gee, I wish I had spent more time at work".

Well, yeah, it's okay to hate that shit. But getting anxiety because of it is ridiculous. What did they do at the party? Take their dicks out?

[–] [deleted] 8 pts

Dude, you just skimmed that shit. He told his manager he did not want a birthday celebration. The manager threw the birthday celebration anyway, so he just went to his car for that lunch and ate lunch in his car instead of the cafeteria. The following Monday he was called onto the carpet for being a meanypants partypooper for leaving the party that he didn't want in the first place early, SO THEY FUCKING FIRED HIM.

I'd have sued their asses too. And it was brilliant of him to use the Americans with Disabilities Act against them, because he warned that manager in advance that he had social anxiety that was exacerbated by events such as that shitty little "party."

In conclusion, fuck you and your shallow take on this topic, and fuck that manager right in the pee hole for pushing this candy-ass forced socializing crap on someone who just came there to work.

[–] 1 pt

Yeah, I would have done the exact same thing. Fuck work parties, and fuck people who don't respect personal boundaries even more.

They're more to the story that the jew news is hiding. Notice that his attorney didn't deny they he got violent, he just said he wasn't a "threat." That's the same kind of moronic shit drooling leftists say when a violent nigger gets shot by the police.

I've met a few people over the years that had severe anxiety with that kind of situation. Some people are wired wrong.

The guy did ask that it not happen, but the company did it anyway. Everyone here overreacted, the worst that should have happened was the idiot manager that went ahead and did it should get a reprimand, but not paying attention to the situation is what most managers seem to be good at.

Everyone has snowflake fatigue at this point.

I always had a blast enjoying all the free booze, appetizers, and sales team girls.

The office manager is a woman, why am I not surprised...

[–] 0 pt

i go as far to surmise she asked him out and he turned her down.

[–] [deleted] 7 pts

Just think... b/c some fat chick wanted cake paid for by her job, a company is down 450k plus lawyer fees.

[–] [deleted] 2 pts

Yeah, but I still think this system is stupid. You have a vibe at a company, and if it's positive, and happy, and you celebrate birthdays, the people who can't stand that shit should quit, or get the boot. Companies shouldn't have to pay out $450,000 to some cunt that got triggered by a party with people he knew. He's a fucking crazy cunt.

Men having anxiety attacks is the new black. It's all the rage. Two people quite close to me... One never wore a covid mask and claimed it would trigger anxiety attacks. Says he has them from time to time and can't work. The other had to be hospitalized and use sick time because his heart rate was like 180 and wouldn't come down. Just modern weirdness. I always thought I'd be the one crying in the trenches but after seeing how other people react to everyday life I guess I'm basically an old soldier for simply going to work and getting divorced once. One of these dudes is even totally alpha in every way except every once in a while he basically becomes a victorian lady of the court and has to fan himself rapidly.

If he said "I don't want a birthday party" and they throw one anyway, it's not fireable material if the person decides to not attend said party.

[–] 4 pts (edited )

Sounds like nbc is leaving out half the story, not surprised. Like what was the violence part, did he sperg out and threaten to kill them for wishing him a happy birthday?

Edit: The guardian has a better version https://archive.ph/wjxjh

>Amid this attack, Bucher said, co-workers asked Berling to stop using coping mechanisms including “hugging himself”. When he did not, the staff members walked out.

>Bucher said: “The way [they] say it, they believed he was enraged and possibly about to get violent.”

He melted the fuck down

[–] 3 pts

Dude said "don't throw me a birthday". They did anyway and then fired him when he freaked out about it. Fuck that let him get paid. He's a retarded pussy but they are the double retarded idiots for doing something he begged them not to and then firing him after he had a negative reaction to them doing what he begged them not to do.

Being an adult is doing shit you don't like sometimes, and not being a cunt about it. This dude was a total cunt. If this was a few decades ago, he would've been living on the streets.

Being an adult is not putting on a pointy paper hat and gobbling down sheet cake you fucking ass backwards retard.

[–] 0 pt

Being an adult is also about knowing yourself and maximizing your strengths while minimizing your weaknesses. This guy quite plainly told them not to do it and why. You think this wouldn't be a supreme court hate crime if it was a jew and they made him attend a Christmas party?

[–] 1 pt

They also need to fire HR for hiring the faggot in the first place.

[–] 1 pt

I suspect this is going to open the door to a lot of expensive victimhood.

[–] 1 pt

To be fair, they shouldn't have thrown him the birthday party if he specifically requested not to have one.

That said, this guy is a tremendous pussy, and it does seem like he was looking for a way to cash in, and he used this.

There's no excuse for him being such a tremendous baby-bitch. If he's diagnosed with some crippling anxiety disorder (they do exist, they are far over-diagnosed, but some people genuinely can't deal with this storm of anxiety in their head without help), then he's absolutely medicated. He probably gets Xanax, the real strong shit, based on how much of a whiny bitch he sounds like (being a woman or whiny bitch male is the only way to get effective medications from doctors; if you're just a man struggling with anxiety, they'll throw a dangerous SSRI at you); if someone's having a panic attack, or they are aware they will be entering a situation that may trigger an attack, they just need to pop one of these pills.

30 minutes later, they'll be totally fine, able to cope with the anxiety as it slowly seeps away under the effects of the drug. But no, this faggot couldn't do that- he had to make a fucking scene, he had to make a big problem out of it, because he's a faggot.

Yeah, feeling anxious is not a fucking disease. People get that all the time.

Exactly, anxiety is the force that motivates people. If you have money problems, you'll feel anxiety about that- and the only way to make that anxiety go away for good (not by popping a pill) is to address the money problem. However, there are some people who have genuine anxiety/panic attacks. There's a difference between "Holy shit, I hate crowds, I don't want to go to my birthday party, too many people, too noisy, makes me really uncomfortable" and "What's that whooshing noise.... wtf.... why am I shaking... OMG AM I HAVING A HEART ATTACK!? AM I GOING TO DIE?! WHAT'S HAPPENING, THERE'S A THREAT, I NEED TO DO SOMETHING, HOLY SHIT WHAT DO I DO, WHERE'S THE THREAT, AHHHH!!" when a person's adrenal system randomly fires off.

The best description I've heard from people who suffer from genuine panic attacks, is this: They say it's like they're suddenly in a very small room with a large animal, like a bear or something. That animal is going to do something to the person. This is the triggering of the fight-flight-freeze mechanism- there's a physical thing happening that is out of the individual's control. This is far, far different from being nervous in crowds or w/e.

Most people that say they have panic attacks are full of shit. Millions of men have been to war, and fought, and came back home with no problems. Having anxiety because of a birthday party with people you know (not strangers) is absolutely ridiculous. The guy in the story was a fucking freak. But obviously, yeah, I get that some people have real mental problems, and that sucks. But sounds like this guy was a bloody retard. He hugged himself for comfort. Because of a birthday party. With people he knew. Jesus Christ. What does this guy do when he has to take a test or something? Does he throw up, and start masturbating for self-love, and comfort?

[–] 0 pt

Yeah, the kind of anxiety/panic disorders I described are exceptionally rare. Want to know one of the best signs that a person has a genuine mental illness? This applies to anxiety/panic disorders, and others. It's pretty simple:

If it's genuine, the person will probably try to keep it secret because THEY FEEL ASHAMED because there's "something wrong with them". A genuinely suicidal person doesn't text all of his friends that he's going to kill himself, and spend the next 2 hours being babied by his friends. He writes a note and just does it.

Same with mental illnesses. A lot of retards walk around fucking broadcasting every disorder they have been diagnosed with. The faggot from the article is absolutely one of those types. One of the first things you will know about him, with just polite small-talk between strangers, is that he has terrible anxiety and depression and AIDS. People who broadcast this shit do it because it has benefited them in the past. It gets them special treatment, so they lead with it. Faggot in the article probably got out of work and all kinds of lousy situations by crying about his anxiety, and it finally paid off in the form of like half a million dollars. Disgusting.

This isn't always the case, but it seems that most of the time people have real anxiety/panic disorders, there has been some head trauma or some kind of event that messed with their brain, like a drug overdose or seizure. It's essentially the brain misfiring. Normal anxiety is one thing, but the kind of anxiety these poor folks feel is utterly overwhelming to the point where it affects them physically. Those are the ones with the real problems.

Also, if you can predict "If I go to the birthday party, I will have an anxiety attack", you don't have an anxiety disorder- you're just a coward who's using a mental illness diagnosis as an excuse to not improve yourself. Most panic/anxiety attacks come on suddenly, without warning, and often in very odd circumstances. A guy could go to a concert, be among a huge crowd with all the noise and movement, and he's fine... but then sitting in his room alone 2 hours later, suddenly he's overcome by the sensation that something is about to attack him and kill him. And he knows there is no threat. This is frustrating, so it makes the event even worse because the guy becomes angry at himself for feeling these things for no reason. It's truly horrible, and these people have my sympathy.

But fuckers who play it up, like I suspect the guy in the article does, piss me off- they make it harder for people with real problems to get help.

Cha-Ching ! I'm sure somehow ((( someone else ))) got 1/3 of the payoff.

not necessarily the man is at fault. when i was a cook the bartender/ night manager asked me for a date. i said no. so it was poke at me every chance and make it look like i was being mean. the owner literally said to me ' do us a favor and take her out to get her off their backs'. i said i never had luck with dating the help. so, one time she says i see you have a birthday coming up. guess what? that's right. I'm cooking the dinner rush and she comes back with the floor staff and they sing the song to me. they could not understand why i was so irritated. she made me look bad. see? she was a vindictive cunt. might be the situation in regards to this article. BTW after new owners took over i appraised them of the situation between me and the cunt. they saw how she treated me one time. they said if she does it again she is out the there. she did it again and nothing happened. the cunt would even elude to my attitude towards her as a problem with my manhood. well, she wasn't fired so i had to walk.
