Just my thoughts and I have no evidence only what I suspect: It wasn't politically motivated at all. Rather in the age of tweeting to be first, people 'sharing' everything with everyone they know whether it matters to them or not, etc, just so they can get credit and feel part of the story... someone thought it would make them important if they leaked it.
