I used to have a boss like that. No matter how science-fiction his idea was, no matter how "we won't be ready to pull that off for decades," he'd just assume that software could do anything you wanted like magic. "Just biochemical algorithms" is a funny way of saying "Just a mystery blackbox we don't even begin to understand."
