I think the expectation here is that the enemy will be wearing body armor if they're in the field at all. Even with a helmet the face will necessarily be more vulnerable that the chest in that case.

Body armor isn’t shit in close engagement with non-5.56. .308 will knock a mofo on their ass and then you just shoot their junk.

Body armor isn't that great still. Sure got steel plates that only cover areas of the chest and back. The rest still uncovered. If your hit by a rifle round. Even if the plate stops it, your going to have the wind knocked out of you. Now if they are wearing new ceramic plates. Shoot it multiple times until dead.

Unless we got some new full body suits IDK about.

Japan was underestimated too, and South Korea. China can build hypersonic missiles because they have build the shockwave wind tunnels first, while the US still relies on computer simulations that don't really work. The US had to delay the 5G rollout for two years until the industry could catch up to the Chinese. China builds a space station while more and more Americans believe that the earth is flat and space ist a lie.

what make USA think that china will play by USA rules ?

as ukraina operation by russia was "unforeseen" (or better, not desired) and the hope was to destroy russia economically (did not happen)

Exactly. China is prepared for both creating and breaking a sea blockade. Western economics will crumble fast without Taiwanese electronics.

Chinese hypersonic missiles will make sure that the war is fought under the sea, not above. Their submarines may not be state of the art, but they build a lot of them.

A phrase I'd expect to hear out of most flag officers.. but not surprised it's from a chair force flag officer. I am however surprised the general details how importantly 'unrepentant lethality' is (although I think training should happend from before and beyond 7 meters). I am doubly surprised this came from an AMC general - good on him and his command.
