I think the expectation here is that the enemy will be wearing body armor if they're in the field at all. Even with a helmet the face will necessarily be more vulnerable that the chest in that case.
Body armor isn’t shit in close engagement with non-5.56. .308 will knock a mofo on their ass and then you just shoot their junk.

Body armor isn't that great still. Sure got steel plates that only cover areas of the chest and back. The rest still uncovered. If your hit by a rifle round. Even if the plate stops it, your going to have the wind knocked out of you. Now if they are wearing new ceramic plates. Shoot it multiple times until dead.
Unless we got some new full body suits IDK about.
