Exactly, and nearly every state has all these extra rules and regulations about solar panels and how you connect to the power grid when you have solar. You'd think they'd encourage people to go completely off-grid, but it's practically illegal in most places. And because solar panel installation is so expensive, it only makes financial sense if you get a discount in the form of government rebates.
