Exactly, and nearly every state has all these extra rules and regulations about solar panels and how you connect to the power grid when you have solar. You'd think they'd encourage people to go completely off-grid, but it's practically illegal in most places.
And because solar panel installation is so expensive, it only makes financial sense if you get a discount in the form of government rebates. But those aren't guaranteed either, and I haven't found a solar company that will back up that rebate if for some reason I get rejected from the government. I know someone who had it happen after he had solar installwd.. For various reasons, he didn't qualify for the federal or stare rebates.
It's all a farce. They don't even try to hide their contempt for people who question them anymore.
