Its rare to have a prosecution in such cases.

Most of the time a person says another person did something criminal to them. Its a lie. Its proven to be a lie. Its proven that the statement given was a knowing lie.

That's a crime. But the government ignores it , instead more than willing to ignore it for the civil system to deal with.

Yep. The big political fish, except in rare cases, just let go. More likely to get 'suicided' than convicted.

I guess the idea is ... if they did prosecute every such case then no one would want to file any complaints at all with the police
