I hope they used distilled water or they could cause damage. People often pour tap water there and that's not a good idea.
She was pouring water in the oil fill hole. Also not a good idea.
LOL. Water can act as a lubrant too. Just not very well. Maybe shampoo would work better. It would clean the engine block. But she'd need shampoo for oily hair.
She isn't going to get many more miles out of that car. And, if the radiator was low, it's still low. If she ever takes it to the shop for an oil change (unlikely - think smoke detector battery), they will see the water in the oil (looks like chocolate milk) and think she has a bad head or manifold gasket leaking coolant into the oil ... a big dollar repair (unnecessary).
She IS the problem.
