His ego blew up and he demanded more shekels and publicity for the sequels, and when his demands weren't met, he allegedly chimped out and made death threats through phone calls.

In an interview, he even admitted stealing food from production. lol

He also accused Keanu Reeves of theft in a documentary he released, claiming that Reeves stole money from animators.

This led to his character being replaced by Link in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
