Well? We eagerly wait for an explanation!
This is bugging the crap out of me, so I thought that I would share, not that I think it will help anything. Here we go. I got a modest inheritance a while back. Funny thing, she told me that she wasn't leaving me shit. If she had a will, nobody could find it. So, here we are. I've been living in a small cabin for years. I had a mobile home, but it wore out and I got rid of it. I decided that I would buy another home. I went and looked at pre-fabricated homes at a dealer at a near by city. They had one I liked, in stock, but the interior wasn't what I wanted. So, I made a down payment and one was ordered that would be made to my specifications. When they called and told me that they had my home, I went to the bank and got a cashiers check for the balance, made out to the dealer. It was too late to go to the dealer, which is about an hours drive away. Did I mention that I live out in the "sticks"? My computer desk is next to my bed, so when I got home I put the check down on the bed and surfed for a while. I started getting sleepy, so I took the check and I put it in a small wooden chest-like box that's on a shelf near the foot of the bed. Oh, I should mention that I hadn't been drinking and that I don't do recreational drugs. I was suddenly very sleepy. I really don't remember taking the last few steps back to the bed to lie down. When I woke up the next morning I did the regular morning routine, coffee, breakfast, etc. After that, I got dressed and was going to take the check to the seller. I have already had a pad installed as well as underground electrical wiring and a new electrical box installed. I also had to have my electrical meter moved as well. Everything was all set. I would just have to have a water line put in after the house was delivered. Well, I went to get the check, and guess what? It wasn't in the box! WTF!?! Nobody knew I had that check here, and it would be very difficult to get in here undetected. This cabin is very small. I tore this place up looking for that check, multiple times. I even dumped out my trash and went through it to see if it somehow ended up in there. I thought maybe I left it in my truck, but no, it wasn't in there either. It's been several days and I've searched every day, nothing. The bank says they won't replace the check for 90 days. I guess they want to see if someone tries to cash it. I don't know, it's policy. Anyway, I guess I'm going to lose my deposit if I don't figure something out. I went to the bank to see if I could get a 90 day loan just until I could get the check replaced but the loan person is out until after the second of January. I'm sure they think that I'm trying to pull some kind of scam. I'm not dumb enough to try something like that, nor am I smart enough to pull something like that off. What do you think? What would you do?
