There are always 2 sides to a story, who's saying the landlord didn't promise something (repaint the bathroom) to the tenant before the moved in and that didn't happen. Don't know Aus laws for shit, but here in the States, so long as the check is cashed, it's acceptance of payment and there's jack shit that can be done. The landlord has to not accept partial payment and then start the court process if they want to Try and collect...
