How many articles like this one, treat the American citizen - the law-abiding citizen - as a pawn, or worse as a statistic, in the Great Partisan War. People have a right in a Republic (in which they are taxed for that purpose) to enjoy basic safety, to be free from crime.

Protecting innocent citizens, who have been financially ruined, injured, and even murdered by the way, is normally the job of local police. You can be Libertarian af, but you'll have a tough time without police protection. Not much chance of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness when thugs are burning your stuff, hitting you with baseball bats and urine balloons, and blinding you with lasers. But if the local cops don't respond....

A potential Federal or National Guard response does not spring from a nefarious plan to take over your little gated community freedoms, and create more Big Government, rather it is a need that has sprung from the FACT that people are not being protected as they were promised. As they had paid for. Citizens gave up money and the "freedom" to engage in self-protective posse-style violence themselves, so that they would live in a society of laws (not men) and be protected instead by a highly trained, very well-equipped professional protective force It was a decision made by a free, intelligent and reasonable society. You're better off with a cop protecting you than having to fend of marauders 24/7 on your own. Minor detail, sorry to bother you with it.

But now all the arguments made against Trump using the Insurrection Act to protect American citizens after 100+ days of inexcusable abuses always is from a standpoint of those Americans being essentially lifeless talking points, mere strategic points and pawns in the big war to win in November. So yeah you mighty Libertarian, hold off on protecting that elderly couple, or that child, or family in Portland, Seattle, St Louis, Kenosha, because strategically Trump will do better in the polls if the cameras just continue to run and if the innocent blood continues to flow.

What kind of ****** thinking is that. And what kind of failed society are we in, that someone can argue that kind of point and still be considered a reasonable human being. There was a time when the Reasonable Man standard was a baseline in American law. Find a "reasonable man" today. I dare you.

American innocents are not fodder in a partisan thug war. They have rights to safety, and the people entrusted to protect those rights have abdicated all responsibility for too long. People will naturally turn elsewhere to see if anyone still responds with honor. This author is oblivious, apparently he's not one who would respond with honor, he sure has not here. The lack of awareness that people are on the receiving end of violence does not even enter this guy's personal grid.

You know where you can put your charts buddy.
