Cry me a river, you worthless eater... pay your dues.

When I finished school in 2007 — with an undergraduate degree in biology and a master’s in science journalism — I owed $78,060 in federal loans.

Any student loan recipient that spends a fortune getting a mostly worthless degree deserves what they get.

All of you people saying "serves them right" are forgetting that most people with student loans get them when they are right out of high school and after a lifetime of being told by both their parents and teachers (as well as every other adult influence in their life) that getting a college degree is the only way to be wealthy. In many cases it is that if they go to college they WILL be wealthy. Those that sell them on these predatory loans feed on this and promise them that they will easily be able to pay back the loans.

Problem isn't even people who have degrees in dumb fields. It is that a lot of people getting jobs in fields that you normally would expect to make a lot of money aren't really making that much money. There are lawyers out there making less than their paralegals because the market is straight up flooded with lawyers. See no one told their parents that if everyone sends their kids to law school, there are going to be too many lawyers. And their the lucky ones, there a lot of psychology majors too who thought they would have a cushy job as a therapist who have had to move onto entirely different and unrelated careers so all they have is an expensive piece of paper.
