This illustrates the limitations of language.

Conservative isn't the right word.

regime supporters vs regime detractors, would be more accurate, but is far more wordy.

Moderate americans vs extremist regime supporters might work as well.

Most were trying for a religious exemptions as well.

Because this was the narrative pushed on us by grifters. The goal was to cleanly as possible, separate out conservatives and those who are anti-regime. Naturally its gonna sweep up a lot of moderate democrats as well.
