Once there was an ugly barnacle. The captain spotted the barnacle on the hull of his ship, but, as he was too busy making money and enjoying life at the sea, so he didn’t bother taking care of it.

Over time, the ugly barnacle grew, eating through the paint of the ship’s metal hull and reducing the ship’s fuel efficiency. The son of the captain eventually took over the ship. His fuel consumption on the ship was higher, so he needed to make more money to keep the ship running, so he didn’t bother taking care of the barnacle, either.

The grandson of the first captain took over. By the time he did, the barnacle had grown so large that he was struggling just to have enough fuel to even make it to nearby ports. His time was fully consumed with trying to keep the shipping business going, so he didn’t spare the attention to remove the barnacle.

One day, the barnacle was so large that it had eaten through the metal hull of the ship; the grandson and ship were lost at sea forever.

The moral of the story: if you don’t remove the foreign element, you’re destined for ruination and even death.
