I reckon they're not. This is probably an attempt at self preservation.

Once you realize that you are ruled by kid fuckers and that these creatures are just about omnipotent, you have to make decisions in order to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Probably the most likely scenario here.

These activists must have seen some bad shit, comes with the territory. I don't think they would have been intimidated easily. They were confronted with forces and realities that showed them their place and shut them down hard.

You're probably right.

I remember her in Belgium, in the late 90s, we had the Marc Dutroux affaire going on (pedo ring). I lasted for quite some times with regular protest in the street and it was in the news all the time; and they found link to the police, lawyers, judges... And then it was gone from the waves. Dutroux is in jail and we don't know any of his clients.

It's rotten all the way through. The system is working but only for those people, not us.
