But the unintended consequence of the way it was coded is that it overrides an important feature (numbered lists that start at one even if the user inputs another number). That, sir, makes bullet points + numbered list a bug.

It's not a bug, it's interference between features.

We need to resolve the interference between these two features. I don't like the idea of the renumbering numbered lists feature being unfeatured by feature interference.
