POEM HERE:

As a young boy, I wandered the hills

And found a tall tree, peaceful and still.

There I sat and watched the sights,

And gazed into the heavens of the night.

~~

The moon was large and shadows cast,

Upon the path and along the grass.

My hat pulled back to clearly see,

As a wishing star flew over me.

~~

What wonder it was, so glad that I saw,

The beauty of God's sky, all in all.

With a flick of His finger, a breath of wind,

That comet flew over, I know not where it'll end.

~~

I wanted to hope, I wanted to wish,

So there I sat, thinking what should I get.

I could ask for fortune, and for fame,

I could ask even for the world to gain.

~~

The more I considered the things to desire,

To grow old, be wealthy, or possibly retire.

The more I realized what God already's done

He sent His star to cross the sky's run.

~~

Selfish I was, wishing on a star,

Already watching the heavens afar.

I had my peace, my own moment in time,

And decided that was a good enough sign.

~~

So as a young boy, wandering those hills,

Under the tree, I changed my own will.

To not wish on stars with all my might,

But in my life to take better delight.
