Like poppys in the wind we dared to be free and grow tall in the summer sun Against gravity and sprawl We reached toward the warm blue sky Defying the world to trample us down. Oh for the days the poppys grew tall, and humbly people mighty and none to trample them down How free were they, how free! How free could they dare to be If they dared to be free at all? Those who rose to the thunder Those who wishes and ambitions dared grow too long and too tall.
If only strivings could reach heaven Mountains would become temples. Nearer my god to thee.
Like poppys in the wind
we dared to be free
and grow tall in the summer sun
Against gravity and sprawl
We reached toward the warm blue sky
Defying the world to trample us down.
Oh for the days the poppys grew tall, and humbly people mighty
and none to trample them down
How free were they, how free!
How free could they dare to be
If they dared to be free at all?
Those who rose to the thunder
Those who wishes and ambitions
dared grow too long and too tall.
If only strivings could reach heaven
Mountains would become temples.
Nearer my god to thee.
