I recently tried solid shampoo, and am shocked it isn't more popular in the prepping community. Consider

1) It cannot leak and make a giant mess.

2) is extremely compact. one small bar of soap is equivalent to at least 2-3 bottles of shampoo.

3) Gets your hair clean without all the strange ingredients or lingering perfumes.

4) Can be purchased from small businesses, who still use traditional recipes.

I've been using solid shampoo for a year now and am incredibly impressed. Honestly, I won't be stocking anything else. Hate to admit, but I used to be one of those women who insisted on salon quality shampoo...never again. This stuff is awesome!

I just use soap, although granted I have short hair.

Back when I had long hair I used solid shampoo for years. It's also great for travelling.

Got a link to the stuff you like or are you making it?

There's also

They used to have soaps like "innawoods" and "glow*****" (glow in the dark soap with CIA on it). But nowadays they're all neutral names.

My GF discovered it a few months ago, then gave it as gifts to several friends for Christmas. 100% approval rating. I have no opinion. I shave my head.

I stock many soaps, but they are all multiple use. Dawn is pretty much good for anything. But will have to look up solid shampoo. Ok I did, meh I shave my head and beards dont care as much. But if female or still had long hair, well then.

So you just rub the shampoo bar into you hair? How do you apply it?

[–] 0 pt

Yes! You rub the bar in your hair, add some water, and massage your scalp like normal. Rinse and repeat not required!

[–] 1 pt

You don't have to rinse anything off?

[–] 0 pt

Yes you should rinse it out. I meant that the soap is so strong you don't need to repeat, which is typical for people with long or thick hair.

Why not just a bar of soap?

Personally, if I can avoid uisng normal bar soap on my face/head area, I will! If you have oily skin it might be ok, but would probably lead to irritation for most people.

Nice! I’m going to grab a couple. Thanks for the heads up.
