Treat them right and they will last for a few years in regular use. Not too expensive, come in a variety sizes.
I've had a Weatherite model about 1 ft tall for long enough that I've forgotten when exactly I got it, maybe 2010-2015. Took it camping many times, left it on overnight in the backyard by mistake a few times, thing just finally died.
I'm probably going to get two of em this time.

I have one that always works but is really dim.

Now I use a Goalzero lantern and just recharge on my solar system's inverter or portable battery pack. It is bright as hell. Goalzero is overpriced but if you want interior lights that pull 1w or a bright lantern it's worth it. Just don't buy their big battery packs or solar panels because at that price you might as well build an actual solar system with real components.
