Projects/Hobbies are important to have. Sometimes you just know other ways to do it. This entire project could also be analog if you have enough skill and knowledge but it is good to see some one doing something like this and documenting it.

Never let "I don't know how" to get in your way. That is a lame excuse. You just don't know how.. yet. Never be afraid of failures. It takes trying to succeed.

My system is definitely analog, I've gotta walk out there and open the valve myself.
