So I'm here in Europe and looking into getting a decent stab vest that also has impact protection. They are expensive as fuck, 500 - 700 euroes each, out of my budget at the moment.

So I'm considering the possibility of getting a hard plate carrier + large steel plates. It would provide equal protection if not better at a decent price + will also provide ballistic protection.

Now here is a question, what is the coverage like for the biggest plates available? From what I've seen on the photos, they cover mainly chest area, but lower stomach is exposed. Are there bigger options than that? Also sides would be exposed, I know, but stab vests in general offer very poor side coverage so it wouldn't be a huge difference.

What are your thoughts?

Sensitive topic for my situation, but in some fantasy scenario layout of my home would leave me in a situation where a long firearm would face restrictions and leave me to the possibility of getting rushed.

Ok. Well, without digging too deeply into your situation, I'll end by saying that there's a reason that most burgers don't focus on armor and focus on weapons. Without knowing your country, chainmail is decent for knife and bladed weapons, but there's no armor that can cover all issues. Whatever you decide to wear, make it easy to put on. In a stressful situation, reaction and coordination is messed up due to adrenaline. Keeping it simple is the best defense. It's one of the reasons that weapons like shotgun are popular in the US: larger spread of pellets means you don't need pinpoint accuracy when your stressed

I know all this very well, I've been more than a few time in situations where I was attacked with a knife. I managed to avoid injury every time, but your guts really feel exposed in that situation. This is why I'm looking at armor options to be able to take my mind of this venerability and focus on fighting back. Things are fucked where I am, but at least people are waking up.

Stay safe, man. Consider moving to the US, if it's feasible
