I agree with you. Tattoos on women were used like red iron marking for cattle.
Arab/Jewish slave owners used them to mark their slaves.

There could be another reason.

  • her husband likes tattoos so she had one to get along with his’.

  • she’s got a scar from an accident and did it to cover it

  • ...

Sure, I can sympathize with exceptions.
Still, I would almost rather my girl/daughter to stick with the scar or with individuality.
