And what changed your mind?
I had to change my card and this will be the reason for the refused payment.
i shall take a break from charitywater for a while until my finances are repaired.
it may take some time.
keep up the good work.
i don't understand why the governments of these countries you operate in do not undertake the most basic of their peoples' needs. water. and they seem to have survived for thousands of years with the inadequate water systems they have.
best wishes

charitywater one & all
greeting!
i felt delighted to be told i am valued even though i have just - sort of by accident - stopped contribution. i felt humbled by the children who had raised tens of thousands of dollars from their birthday parties etc
one haver. i don't understand why, after surviving for thousands of years on "natural" water "these people" suddenly need charitywater. one seemingly uncharitable view is that waterborne pathogens are a natural though brutal form of birth control in a world where some think overpopulation is a problem, if not the greatest problem.
what is wrong with the water they have. and if they don't have water, why don't they move to somewhere where there is water?
the romans built aqueducts and had plumbing 2000 years ago. why haven't "these people" "got the memo"?
why are the local governments not sorting it out? that, surely, is what they are for. water is a, if not the, most basic need.
why is it my problem?
and are you giving teaching and education with your water program? picking up litter (and not dropping it in the first place), chi gong and reading.
i just listened to your ad on youtube about the girl whose name i carelessly missed (why can't youtube let you save the adverts, perhaps in one's browsing history or somehow?) and 30k people gave $9 after she died having just missed her target.
money seems to be the problem. it may be getting in the way of the solution. why not just give them money and "instructions"? perhaps they think they have more urgent needs than water? do you ask them?
i think what "these people" need is not water, but imagination. consider making a water needs map and people may adopt a spot and encourage the locals to sort out their own water problems. whether digging a well, getting a bore hole and windmill to pump, laying a pipe so they don;t have to carry water on their heads (and the girls will have more time for reading and imagining). the local leaders, councils and governments should have sorted this out a long time ago.
consider advising such bodies on their duties and how to do them, starting with water, which will provide a template and use the water example to fix other needs starting with, i presume, food and shelter. the local rich people should consider doing this as micro charity for their communities.
please do not take this as knocking in any way. i completely admire what you have done, are doing and what you have yet to do. and charitywater has captured our imagination and attention.
our finances have miraculously repaired and if you send details so i can set up a standing order, we will double our previous monthly contribution with the expectation of doubling it every subsequent month.
