If love is so powerful, the Christians in Constantinople should've used love against the Islamic invaders that turned Constantinople into Istanbul.

I assume a lot of the christian parents loved their daughters, who were nailed to a cross. And dearly loved their sons, who were analraped and forced to convert to Islam or be killed.
And yet, they didn't have the power to stop it.
