McInerney isn't on the inside, so he's just giving his opinion or repeating what he was told.

I can't prove anything. I just have my knowledge of how investigations are conducted, what we already know or assume, what has been rumored, how information can be used to lead/mislead, how operatives operate, what RDW has claimed in the past, etc.
but you know for a fact the Gen isn't an insider in anyway. ok...
I never met this Gen personally, I know his Reputation inside the Military . I know a few who served under him. I know who he is .
" If you spend anytime in combat you will learn how to read people quickly. ... your life depends on it " .
He's retired, so that would suggest he's not directly involved and is only giving his views based on experience of people, how things work, etc. He has connections to people on the inside or close to it so he can speak with some knowledge and even drop info that he's been allowed to give.
Sometimes they'll use someone like him to drop good info without the official stamp on it so that there's some plausible deniability, since he can say it was just his educated opinion.
