This is a cowardly position to take. We cannot be in a place where we expect our people to do everything 100% correct every time. They are only human, we cannot expect %100 strategically correct behaviour EVER.
This is not a fair standard to expect of our people.
There are places where not rewarding stupidity is warranted but when one of our own tries to do the right thing, we need to recognize it and help them out.
