Fortunately, the matrix is predictable. Just as in the movie. The machines were eventually forced to accept the inevitable rise of "the one" and the fall of the matrix. Rather than try to fight it, they simply incorporated it into their plan. Rather than building a matrix and maintaining it, they instead leaned into the natural boom and but cycle. Building it up, tearing it down and enjoying the fruits at each phase. The western matrix has already peaked and we are now in the decline phase. This will happen because they want it to happen now as much as it is the next natural phase of any such system. The process of decline will be painful, like growing pains but in the opposite direction. There will be two to three generations of Americans that will need to go through this before we can expect a real uptick again. Decadence has made people weak and history has demonstrated without fail that this process will not turn around until society reaches rock bottom. These people will be about as pleasant to be around as a junky going cold turkey off heroin. On the whole, I would not want to be in America for this process, certainly not raising a family. I have options in other countries, where times will be equally tough. However, I anticipate the "come down" to be MUCH worse in America than anywhere else.
