When you think about it, Im not particularly muscular, there's richer out there, there's better looking, there's more religious. Given enough people there will always be someone out there who is better off or in a way better able to handle life. This makes me think, that given that competition, why am i even bothering? It seems like on any given moment, the woman could eventually get bored of me anyways, and than I'm back at square one. And how can I guarantee fidelity or anything like that in this day and age? Whilst I've always tried to hold an optimistic view, my mom may be right on this one

Never take dating advice from women. Especially do not take dating advice from women in your family or a buddy’s wife.

Now if they are trying to match make you with suitable candidates that is a different situation imo. Traditionally this is a role women used to fill rather well afaik but is probably largely abandoned by the boomer-genX.

In my experience modern women’s (boomer, genX, millennium) family advice is specifically designed to destroy and chances for family making of the future generations.
