Some people need a ridiculous amount of social validation. And then there are those who feel like they need to talk a lot because they assume that it sends the signal that they are very busy and contributing a great deal at work…and usually, they aren’t.

I had this boss who would drone on and on about personal shit..it was clear that he was trying to foster “personal relationship” with his reports..but something about me, I am able to easily sniff out when it’s fake..and so many of these people are so fake. That dude was fake, and it was laborious to know that at every meeting, I’d have to spend the first 10-15 minutes listening to this jackass try to make us think he’s cool. What I find even more difficult to understand is the number of people who can’t see through that sort of bullshit.

I hate meetings. Sometimes they’re necessary, but I don’t want to sit there and pretend I like you or that you’re interesting if I don’t actually think that you are. Can we just discuss what needs to be discussed and get back to work? I want to get my shit done so that I can do non-work related activities.
