I was looking at some dog food, and a standard can i used to get a few years ago has gone in price exponentially, it used to be 50-75$ for the entire pack, now its close to 50$ for a 12oz can. Absolutely bonkers. And i noticed the same with jobs, sure they can pay you 6 figures, but that 6 figures now is like the same as someone making 25,000 not even 20 years ago, money just doesn't seem to buy crap anymore

A good example, a fridge. A fridge from the 1950s may have cost 10,000 in today's money. HOWEVER that fridge outlasted my grandpa and is still running to this day. When you take the fridge of t he 50s and compare it to now, the new day fridge needs to be replaced every 3-5 years, so now the current day fridge is 3.000 * lifetime of needing a fridge, which can be 10 or 15 times, making a current day fridge equivalent cost closer to 45,000

You replace your fridge every 3-5 years? 😂

I remodel homes. Have demo'd many kitchens with 1960s appliances that all worked fine. Today's machines are built to last 3 years.
