I fly a lot, and I mean a LOT. (I used to fly even more than I do now, but things have calmed down.) The number of times I've been asked to stand so an aisle-mate can hit the head is pretty high, but worth it to me. The number of times I've been wedged against the window is also high, and not enjoyable. I've never been on a flight longer than 14 hours and I was happy to stand as often as I could. That's also one of the things I like about the aisle. If I feel the need to stand and stretch for a minute I can do so without asking anyone to move.
All of my flights are international to Asia from America, so routinely traveling for more than a day so, I like my uninterrupted window sleep. I get your point though. For flights less than 4 hours during the day, isle may be beneficial.
