Long ago, when I was a student at a public school, I was amazed at just how stupid some of my teachers were. I often wondered how they made it through college. When I learned to read I read everything in the house, even the stuff my parents thought they had hidden away from the children. Before I got out of elementary school I had read every book in our modest school library and had started reread books there. I moved and I transferred to another school in the 10th grade. It was almost like landing on another planet. Not only were the teachers more articulate and intelligent but the students were much more civilized as well. The culture at the first school was just weird. I later learned that people from surrounding towns almost looked at the people from the first town as some sort of cult. The town had a bad reputation all around the area.
