They're smart and are never ashamed to let you know it except, of course, they're not. Teachers don't learn from students, nurses don't learn from patients (or doctors for that matter), and you've got nothing to tell me either. The first step to knowledge isn't questioning what you think you already know, it's just listening to me ... because I already know it, all of it.

The science is settled, the experts are not to be questioned (and I am one), and you should follow the instructions given to you without question. I know what's best in al things and what's best for you. There can't possibly be any new facts or data to consider because I would already know it, and there is no other interpretation to consider because I would have already considered it. Because I don't and haven't there is nothing further to discuss.

Now go sit back at your desk and be quiet, or I will give you 1 demerit, and be certain that it WILL go into your permanent record.

I used to think you had to be reasonably intelligent to be a nurse. Grade school teachers on the other hand.. all they do is track attendance, read from text books, assign homework (usually in the form of quizes in textbooks at the end of each chapter), and make weekly tests. Maybe this is also more or less true for college professors as well.

I have taught at a college level. I did not have a degree in what I was teaching. I was a subject matter expert in the field for over a decade.

The shit they had as the pre-made assignments/reading/etc was all garbage. I updated everything from scratch with real-world examples and data.

The few students that took those classes and passed are in excellent careers now. You don't need a degree to teach, you need to know what the fuck you are doing and how to transfer than knowledge effectively.
