During the 90s, the early web was tech-driven: The focus was "How do we do _____?". Then when people started doing _______, the focus turned to "How do we make money off _______?". Then it became "How can we gather more data?". Then "How do we spy?". And we're now flirting with the "Fuck them - how do we control everyone?" stage of it.
