Technically it means 'hit the gas', as in increase throttle, not 'turn up the gas'.

yeah, but it would be different..'gas aufdrehen'='turn up the gas'..syntax thing. 'Gas geben' is always a throttle reference.

'Geb gas!' = 'Stomp the gas pedal, nigga!'
