In the nearly 10 years that I lived in Germany, there was never a time when I thought anything like that could happen. Never felt in danger anywhere. This was in the 90's though. How things change.

It was strange, there were no consequences for the rioters, if I recall correctly.
Riots (from foreigners and from locals) seem to become more frequent. BLM riots in the US, the yellow vests in France, anti-corona riots currently in the Netherlands,... Maybe we enter a new era.
