Your property tax pays for these people to be housed in one of the hundreds of shelters on the tri-state area. Now your kind heart has basically lit a beacon for every crackhead, junkie and whore whose anti-social personality and addiction are so bad that they cannot/will not comply with basic shelter rules.

“I’ve paid our $75 room rate out of my own pocket just to make sure that someone has somewhere safe and warm to stay overnight,” he said.

What is it with business owners who claim the cost of giving their product away or having it stolen is the full retail price? No, that's not how accounting works. Their actual loss is their cost to provide or produce the good or service. So, no Brian, by giving rooms away you're not shelling out $75 from your own pocket. You're shelling out whatever your costs for that room would be if it was sitting vacant for a night. You may be realizing an opportunity cost that would be the full retail price of the room, but you can't count potential losses as a realized loss in accounting.

“This motel is not about making money,” he insisted. “It’s about improving the lives of people who are not in the best living or financial situations right now.”

What is wrong with commies? How the fuck do you intend to improve people's lives without money, Brian?

He was gifted partial ownership of the motel by his elderly father

No wonder he didn't get full ownership. He doesn't even understand accounting or economics.
