Traditional grading has often been used to "justify and to provide unequal educational opportunities based on a student’s race or class," said a letter sent by Yoshimoto-Towery and Pedro A. Garcia, senior executive director of the [Los Angeles Unified School District's] division of instruction, to principals last month.

These people are fucking lunatics. Their conspiracy theory is that teachers and administrators are responsible for the opportunities that each student has. I would like to hear them explain how teachers or administrators are responsible for a student's access to an internet connection, or whether they have to babysit.
