[T]he act of making an assumption (even if correct) sends a potentially harmful message
Harm? How? Feelings belong to each individual. We cannot be responsible for how others feel. Trying to make others responsible for how you feel creates a psychotic society that cannot function.
[I]t can be offensive or harassing to guess at someone’s pronouns and refer to them using those pronouns if that is not how that person wants to be known.
Offensive feelings belong to an individual. It's not possible for anyone to know what another person may feel offense at. It's not possible to prevent offensive feelings in others. It's only possible to control your own feelings and not constantly take offense from others.
Trying to make others responsible for how you feel creates a psychotic society that cannot function.
