Surely they meant sex, not gender.
I 'member back in the old days gender was male, or female for organisms; and in language classifications of nouns or pronouns (add adjectives and verbs for certain languages), they added neuter for objects. These days SJWs would not know how to gender nouns or pronouns.
Gender means kind or type. Back in the day when you asked someone's gender it was just a euphemism for sex. Back when society was more modest people didn't want to say the sex word. Now the meaning is ambiguous. It could refer to biological sex but could also refer to one of 72 genders. Just say sex when you are referring to biological sex.
