It is worse than a black hole, they are trying to recreate the conditions of the Big Bang. There are some physicists who are warning that initiating another Big Bang in this space time could expand and displace the current space time. Think of it like creating an expanding bubble inside an existing bubble. The existing bubble is our universe which will be displaced by the new universe. Not just the earth, the entire universe.
