The honest discussion of this topic includes the fact that they are unsure whether the weed causes these psychological issues, or if those with underlying issues turn to weed.

Everyone defends their vice, it's ok when you do it. If it's not weed it's booze, if it's not booze, it's gambling, if it's not gambling, so on and so forth. People will defend sugar if that is their vice, at least its not illegal, who cares if it causes diabetes and makes people weak.

This seems unlikely. There exists a strong correlation because schizophrenia develops during puberty and self medication is normally an attempt to cope. Likewise, puberty is usually the first time one can gain access to pot. Pot is the biggest drug used to self medicate. Pot didn't cause the schizophrenia. Yet it strongly correlates.

There might exist causality of pot on brain development and schizophrenia, as it's known pot hinders brain development during and before puberty. As such, it may well cause more severe schizophrenia. But that's supposition on my part and afaik, unfounded.

I smoked pot every day for about thirty years but gave up two years ago due to my job having random drug test. Pot and heavy machinery don't mix very well unfortunately. edit yes a bit mentally immature but I've never been on anti depressants or have schizophrenia.

by schizophrenia they mean concerned with your surroundings, skeptical of media narratives, prepares for the future, not eager to serve on the front lines of a banker's war, etc

complete bullshit. weed makes you super alert and aware of all the normal everyday sounds/ tastes. And for some people that can be overwhelming

This definitely depends on the individual. I know that this new-fangled weed with extremely high THC percentage the kids have these days is over kill and possibly habit forming. Anything becomes a crutch if over-used. Some habitual users experience withdraw symptoms and Insomnia after quitting. It all depends on your tolerance, habits, and general health.

When I smoked pot I couldn't afford the good stuff so I had to buy the Mexican dirt weed. Plus no one really knew about what strains did what where I was from. So I'd always buy the weed that made me paranoid when I was able to afford the good stuff. I grew some pot once in my closet and smoked it and honestly it tasted like sea salt. I got insanely high. it left just as quick as it entered and I honestly felt great afterwards. So I guess one has to find the strain that works for them the best. I haven't touched pot in 20 years, so I'm not really one to be in the debate. but I can see the newer stuff being so strong blasting people's brains away if they don't find what works for them the best.

I agree. When i smoke Indica while playing guitar I feel bored kinda and don't come up with cool licks. But when I smoke Sativa I get super creative and more into playing.

Rotating strains is a valid tactic for decreasing habit formation, though. Weed isn't one drug, it's dozens upon dozens, and the ways they interact with each other in the synapse varies by strain.

That's why legalization and regulation is so crucial. It's possible to approach weed like a grown-ass adult, but it helps a LOT to know what the fuck is in the box

At this point in my life I really don't have any interest in starting again. I'm not saying all my pod experiences were bad at all actually. I just wish I could have afforded the better stuff. The guys were trying to retire off of a pound of weed back in the day. So they were charging ridiculous prices for ounces and anything below that.

Meh, it's been known for decades (heavy) cannabis use exasperates the onset and severity of those already susceptible (genetic) to schizophrenia and or other types of mental illness. Also does this Author or data take into account the very clear differences between the long term effects of cannabis vs synthetic cannabis on cognitive function ??
