People want magical non-existent happy pills because they delusionally believe that the purpose of life is happiness. It is not. The purpose is self-actualization and embodying Godly virtues.
Whiny "depressed" people get butthurt if you tell them they can cure their "depression" by going to the gym daily, eating a healthy diet, taking pride in their work, cleaning their home, going to church every week, choosing a partner based upon virtue rather than abs, holding their friends and family to Godly standards, and adhering to the truth. Because that takes effort and will upset whomever is benefitting from them being "depressed".
