Having an IQ that is, perhaps at best, nearly one standard deviation above the average for all niggers everywhere is just not that big a deal. I've got issues with Sowell blaming black crime on redneck behaviors. I grew up poor white trash. I was smart and disciplined and earned engineering degrees and was always top of my class. Even so, the only people I feel at home with are the types of people I grew up with. While I was never "no electricity and no running water poor", I knew people who were. These are my people and I'd like to think I understand them pretty well.
As a general rule none of them would harm you for walking down their street or waving at their wife. Start rummaging around their property at night and it's obviously a whole different story. I would bet the most ghetto black man walking through the most poor redneck trailer park would be 1000x safer than me walking through any of a hundred black neighborhoods in my state.
Sowell makes tons of excuses for black behavior. Many of them are very interesting like how little actual shore line or navigable rivers are in Africa. Black behavior, lack of IQ, and propensity for violence is different from pretty much any other culture. By and large they've proven unlike whites and asians they can't sustain a society. That must be acknowledged and appropriately dealt with. I don't see Sowell ever doing that. Maybe I missed something, but that's my take on him.
He's a token and a rare one at that. Smart niggers are rare and generally exist only because they have White dna. The thing is, no matter what, a nigger is a nigger, same as a jew is a jew and no matter how much you the White guy think "why he's a smart guy and I agree with him"- they are not White.
And they don't agree with your Whiteness.
If absolutely necessary. Sowell's only draw is repeating the same thing that Whites had already said before him, while being black. As if that somehow shields him from liberal criticism. The reason the left invented the term "Uncle Tom".
