You're not wrong, but the dividing line is frequently (not always) theoretical science (which you declare) verses experimental. That said, 50% (> 80% for China) of research papers are fraud.

Almost everything asserted for space outside of our solar system, and including our sun, is strictly theoretical and almost entirely lacking evidence to substantiate the theories. Yet it's commonly taught as fact. For example, we have experimental data 100% confirming the theory of how the sun works is completely wrong. Yet they still teach confirmed lies. Likewise, reasonably strong evidence black holes don't exist.

That said, there is a fair amount of evidence of what we call the quantum world and quantum interactions. Making it a bit removed from the theoretical world of science. We are definitely trying to better understand it. And, best of all, a lot of this research is reproducible.
