I saw a "recycling" operation in India, near Mumbai once. The person would get a bag of trash, I'm not sure where from, but they were well stocked in it. They would rip open the bag, and dump it into a stream about 1/4 Mike from the ocean, then they picked out any plastic that floated to the top. The rest of the lighter stuff would get washed out into the ocean. I'm not sure what happened when the heavier things built up a berm at the bottom on the stream. I presume it would all be washed out to sea during the monsoons.

When you landed, you could see all of the trash coming out of the rivers into the Arabian see. All while private jet flying assholes tell you you're the cause of the Pacific garbage patch.
