Depends on your definition of a mental disorder.

Are there people that have such a hard time focusing on a task that it can be nearly debilitating? There's no doubt about that, I know a couple guys that are like night and day on and off prescription drugs.

Do amphetamines help out? For sure, although most people on them probably would be better off in the long run with diet change, exercise, etc.

Should we be giving kids mild altering drugs, even in small doses? No, that's crazy. The long term effects are terrible and the short term gain isn't worth it.

Kids need exercise and active learning environments, which they arent getting in public schools. Boys just get all the blame and accusation of ADHD because they tend to act out in more physically destructive ways than girls do. (Girls direct that rage inwards, which is just as bad, believe me)
